FAQs

Find answers to questions you might have about the FreeStyle LibreLink update

Looking at my glucose graph, there’s a gap in my glucose data. How do I recover the data?

If you discover a gap in your glucose data on the graph, you can scan your FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor with the FreeStyle LibreLink app to recover and fill in data from the last 8 hours.

Have you changed the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor to allow real-time glucose readings?

No, there is no change to the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor; you just need to update your app. Version 2.10 of the FreeStyle LibreLink app introduces automatic real-time glucose readings if you're using a FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor. You will need to start a new sensor after updating the app to begin receiving real-time glucose readings.

Can I use both my FreeStyle Libre 2 reader and the FreeStyle LibreLink app together with my FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor?

Yes, it is possible to use both your FreeStyle Libre 2 reader and the FreeStyle LibreLink app with your FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor. If using both devices with the sensor, the FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor will not automatically send real-time glucose readings to the app. You will need to scan your sensor with the reader or FreeStyle LibreLink app to receive a glucose reading.

Do I still need to scan to start my FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor with the updated app, FreeStyle LibreLink 2.10?

Yes, it is still required to scan your sensor when starting a new FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor with the FreeStyle LibreLink app.

Will real-time glucose readings also be shared with my healthcare professional?

Yes, if you are connected to your healthcare professional’s LibreView practice under their Connected Apps section, your glucose readings will be shared with your healthcare team.

Will those in my support network who use LibreLinkUp be notified that I am now using the FreeStyle LibreLink app with real-time glucose readings?

Yes. LibreLinkUp users will receive a push notification informing them that their connection has started a new sensor and their connection’s glucose reading will automatically update every minute.

Additionally, when the LibreLinkUp users open their app, a pop-up will appear at the bottom of the screen informing them that their Connection now has automatic glucose readings. LibreLinkUp users who wish to receive real-time glucose readings from their connections who are using FreeStyle Libre 2 sensors must update their LibreLinkUp app to version 4.7.
