How do I get reimbursed for the FreeStyle Libre 2 system?

First, talk to your healthcare professional to get a prescription. If you meet the coverage criteria, your claim for the FreeStyle Libre 2 system will be processed like any other claim at the local pharmacy.

Are there any out-of-pocket costs?

Each year under the Manitoba Pharmacare program, you have to pay a portion of the cost of your eligible prescription drugs. This amount is your annual Pharmacare deductible. Pharmacare determines your deductible based on your adjusted family income. To see what your estimated deductible would be, visit the Manitoba Health website.

What is the Manitoba Pharmacare program?

Manitoba Pharmacare is a drug benefit program for eligible Manitobans - regardless of disease or age - whose income is seriously affected by high prescription drug costs.

Who can qualify for the Manitoba Pharmacare program?

You qualify for the Manitoba Pharmacare program if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are eligible for Manitoba Health coverage, AND
  • Your prescriptions are not covered by other provincial or federal programs

How do I apply for Manitoba Pharmacare?

You can do one-time program enrollment and eliminate the need to submit a completed application form every year. To enroll, you’ll need to fill out and sign both the consent and declaration sections of the Pharmacare Application and Consent Authorization Form and send it to Manitoba Health.

The Canada Revenue Agency will then electronically forward to Manitoba Health your most recent income information. Your income level from last year will determine your annual Pharmacare deductible for the next benefit year (e.g., 2022 income determines the annual Pharmacare deductible for the 2024/2025 benefit year). The annual deductible is determined on April 1 of each benefit year.
