FreeStyle Libre 2 coverage in Alberta

As of December 16, 2024, provincial reimbursement criteria includes Alberta residents 18 years of age and over living with diabetes that require:

  • ongoing use of insulin pump therapy, OR:
  • a basal insulin AND a bolus insulin; OR
  • a premixed insulin.

Individuals living with diabetes under 18 years of age that require ongoing use of any insulin will also gain the opportunity for access to the FreeStyle Libre 2 flash glucose monitoring system.**
